Genre: Humorous Essay
Publisher: Unhinged Press

Tour dates: Nov 15 to Dec 5, 2022
Content Rating: G – appropriate for the general audience as defined above

Book Description:

Christmas comes but once a year; chaos never ends! Happy Halloween, merry Christmas, and joyful Lumpy Rug Day. We didn’t make that up. Lumpy Rug Day is celebrated every May 3, though “celebrated” might be too strong a word. It’s the American way to create a celebration for everything, then turn it into a chore or worse, a nightmare. ’Tis the Season to Feel Inadequate is a collection of humorous essays about holidays, special occasions, and other times our celebrations make us feel not-so-celebratory. It’s understandable for those who think Christmas form letters can be honest—or they can be interesting. And it’s empathy for anyone who’s ever gotten poison ivy during Nude Recreation Week or eaten all their Halloween candy and had to hand out instant oatmeal packets to their trick-or-treaters.

Review By LAWonder10:

This is a hilarious, uplifting book for not only “the Season” but all year long!

Are you feeling “down” this Holiday Season, or do you know someone who is? If you need a “pick me up”, this book should do the trick.

This book is hilarious!! What makes it perfect, is that it is all clean humor!

In her book, Dorothy Rosby addresses not only the Holiday Season but everything from the Holidays to children’s birthdays. She has comical lists; ironically, some of them are very sensical. She also addresses many national days I have never heard of. This is a wonderfully uplifting book many of us will relate to. It somehow makes stressful times seem lighter.

This is a great book for the Holiday Season but also for all year long!

The cover is eye-catching, cheerful, and perfect, as is the Title.

I give this book 5 stars!

This book was gifted to me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.

’Tis the Season to Feel Inadequate

’Tis the season to run up our credit card bills and give our friends and family good head starts on their next garage sales. The season to light up our houses like Las Vegas. The season to spend a week baking Christmas treats and then curse ourselves about holiday weight gain. In short, ’tis the season to feel inadequate.

Of course, we don’t just feel inadequate around Christmas. There’s also the national “un-holiday,” the day we all blow our New Year’s resolutions, which generally falls around January 3. There’s Halloween, the day we’re forced to race back to the grocery store to buy candy because we ate everything we bought for the trick-or-treaters. Or at least I do. And there’s Nude Recreation week, which I have yet to celebrate.

And by the way, I didn’t make that one up.  Nude Recreation Week is celebrated across the United States the week after Independence Day. I don’t participate because I tend to be a little chilly. Also because National Sunscreen Day is long gone having been observed on May 27.

At any rate, we heap a lot of stress on ourselves in the name of celebrating. I wonder if we’re setting our expectations too high. Maybe we should cut ourselves some slack when the next special occasion comes around. Holidays and other celebrations should be fun. It will still be Valentine’s Day on February 14 even if you haven’t taken your Christmas tree down yet. Your child’s birthday party doesn’t have to be at Disneyland. Thanksgiving will still be Thanksgiving even if you forgot to buy a turkey. And it will still be Nude Recreation Week even if you wear your bathrobe—or sunscreen.
